Differently-abled children win hearts with special run : Mangalore

Scores of differently-abled children descended on the city streets on Thursday February 21 and proved that they were second to none, during a torch run held as part of ‘Saanidhya Panama Kreeda Mahotsava 2013’.
Differently-abled children from various schools, dressed in colourful attires, took part in the torch run from Sri Gokarnanateshwar Temple to Mangala stadium.



The run was flagged off by former central minister B Janardhan Poojary.
In his address, Poojary said the responsibility of looking after differently-abled children was not up to a particular person or association. "It is the duty of every individual to love them. We should consider them as our equals," he said.
"Organizing sports for differently-abled children is a sacred work," said Poojary lauding Saanidhya for setting an example for with their efforts towards the special children.
Rakesh Malli, president of Bangalore Sports and Cultural Academy for Differently-abled, H S Sairam, president of Kudroli Sri Gokarnanatheshwara Temple, Dr B G Suvarna were the guests of honour.
A three-day state-level sports meet of differently abled students is being organized jointly by Panama Corporation Ltd, Mangalore and by Bangalore Sports and Cultural Academy for Differently-abled on the occasion of decennial celebration by Saanidhya Residential School and Training Center for Differently-abled.
Mahabala Marla, Saanidhya president, Vasanth Kumar Shetty, administrator, Jagadish Shetty, convener, Devadatta Rao, Nanda Kumar, Sarala Puttaswami among others were present.
