Speak CePal

During our projects to develop assistive technology to enable persons with disability, we came across many who were speech impaired. They used sign languages and other methods to communicate, which was very difficult with those who were not used to it.
We found that many users could take advantage of touch screen based tablets and speech synthesis based system to “speak”. Few such software applications are already available in free as well as commercial versions but mostly focused on American users. Thus they lack Indian Language and Indian Context capabilities. Trying to make such facility available for Indian users, we have developed this application to help such persons. It can be used in any Android based tablet/phone(many of them are very cheap). It is highly user friendly , can be customized for any language and as per user need. we provide special facility to those with restricted finger movements by being able to operate the whole system by touching at one location of the screen. One can also use USB mouse to operate the system in case it is not possible to use touch facility.

Talk CePal

Similar to speak CePal, This application is developed for speech impaired person.
With use of speech synthesis methods, talk CePal can speak sentences which are written by user. Such applications which are available in market are developed mostly in US English for American context where as talk CePal is developed with Indian languages and context in mind.
It can be used in any Android based tablet/phone.
It is very user friendly.

E-Mukt

Due to availability of cheap touch screen tablet/phones, we decided to take input from users through touch. With their touch we are making them operate Light, Fan, TV, DVD etc. Best part of this innovation is that users need not change their existing electrical/electronic equipment and over all cost of system becomes very affordable in Indian economic context. In case user does not have fine finger movements to touch various parts of screen, we also have other options available:
  • We can use gross hand or leg movement to operate system
  • If person does not have any hand/leg movement, we can use cheap neuro-headset to track head movement and facial expression to give input to the system
  • Last but not least, if person is not having any kind of movement then we may be able to use conscious thoughts to make him self reliant to some extent
  • It would also be possible to operate the system from a laptop/PC
  • We are continuously developing new input possibilities based on user capability and need. Some of the input possibility being worked on are : Cheap Sip-n-Puff device, Muscle movement based input etc. Do get in touch with us to discuss any other input possibilities
