Differently-abled contests polls : Mysore , Karnataka

Ajgar Pasha, a physically-challenged man is on a mission. He wants to bring in a change in the lives of differently-abled by being part of active politics.
When no political party showed interest in him, Pasha(35) decided to take on the major political parties in the poll fray by filing nomination papers as an independent candidate from NR Mohalla, ward no 49.  A group of disabled people accompany him during his door-to-door campaign on tri-wheelers.
Pasha suffers from polio  and has studied till II PU.  His  symbol is television. On Monday, he said despite the state having 18 lakh differently-abled people, which include 44,000 in Mysore district and 8,000 in Mysore city, political parties did not show any interest to solve their issues.
“Even the JD(S), which promised seats for them, did not keep its promise. The corporators failed to utilise the `3.50 crore earmarked for the differently-abled which is three per cent of the total funds.  The MLAs, who had to spend `10 lakh for the disabled from the local area development fund, never exhibited their commitment,” he said. Pasha, who is earning his livelihood with a petty shop, is the fourth of the six children of his family.  “Political parties approached me to take back my nomination papers but I stuck to my stand.”
