A 15-year-old physically challenged girl was allegedly raped by a youth
in a village in Alur taluk on Wednesday. The girl has been admitted to
the Hassan Institute of Medical Sciences, in Hassan for treatment and
further medical examination.
The girl, who has no strength in her legs, was alone at her residence
when Nagaraj, aged around 25, barged inside and raped her at around 11
am on Wednesday. The accused is also a resident of the same village. He
fled the place when her father returned home. Both her parents are daily
wage workers in nearby plantations.
The parents filed a complaint with the Alur police station on Wednesday
evening. Jayalakshmi Sadashiva, Alur Police Inspector, told The Hindu that a search for the accused was in progress.
