Aid handed to physically challenged persons : IMPHAL

As a humane gesture Relief Centre for the Welfare of Differently abled Persons and Life Line Trust today handed over blanket weaving materials and eatables to five children of a single family, who are all physically challenged.

The five, including four girls and a boy, are among eight children born to Khaidem Ibobi and Kh (O) Tombi of Senjam Khunou under Sekmai assembly constituency.

According to the relief Centre president Ch Opendro the materials were distributed to provide some relief to the family members from the chilly winter months.

Noting that the Khaidem family is in dire straits, economically, he drew the attention of the MLA as well as the Minister concerned to do the needful for inclusion of the particular family under the PDS programme.

On the otherhand, Life Line Trust secretary Lourembam Henthoingamba said there are a number of physically challenged persons enduring economic hardships as many of them are neither covered by the PDS programme nor do Government officials make any initiative to help them.

Conveying that provision of weaving materials and other items today to the Khaidem family is a part of the two NGOs' effort to reach out to the physically challenged persons living in different corners of the State.
