Kudumbashree’s Employment Schemes - Thiruvanthapuram

This November, Kudumbashree would launch two exclusive employment programmes, ‘Punarjani’ targeting women and ‘Aajeevika Skill Development Programme’ (ASDP) for rural youth.
During phase one of the programmes, ‘Punarjani’ would give employment to 5,000 women and ASDP would provide training to 30,000 rural youth.
Widows, unwed mothers, women abandoned by husbands, victims of human-trafficking and physically-challenged women between the age group of 36 to 50 years would benefit from ‘Punarjani’. Training for beneficiaries is progressing and jobs would be ensured in various sectors and also a minimum salary of Rs 6,000 per month.
Those who successfully complete training would receive certificates approved by National Council for Vocational Training and Sector Skill Council.

Training would be imparted in plumbing, marketing, painting, garment making, tailoring and accounting sectors and for the jobs of electrician, nursing assistant and beautician. Skill development, English and IT would also be included.

ASDP would ensure job opportunities to financially backward people aged between 18 to 35 years in rural areas. The training programme is jointly conducted by Kudumbashree and Union Ministry for Rural Development. It intends to train at least 10,000 jobless rural youth every year after ensuring them a decent pay.

Age limit is not mandatory and eligible categories would get age relaxation.

Training in skilled job sectors might extend from three months to one year. English language training, comput er training  and soft-skill training are also included. It also aims to equip the people to seek jobs abroad.

Training would be provided with the cooperation of approved educational institutions, companies, job-oriented training institutions, federations of self-help groups, government, semi-government and self-governing institutions with Kudumbashree.
