Chairman PEF stresses free education to needy children - Pakistan

Teaching is the noblest profession which develops nations on modern lines to excel in the comity of nations. In fact, it's an enduring legacy of the prophets. Our teaching community should therefore perform their duties in a way to develop today's nascent youth as confident leaders of tomorrow so that Pakistan could get rid of the present day crises.

Chairman, Punjab Education Foundation Engineer, Qamar ul Islam Raja stated while addressing the certificates distribution ceremony of teachers training workshop at Government Girls High School Bagh Sardaran on Saturday. While speaking about the importance of education in the modern day life, he said that the Punjab government has been spending more than 26 percent of its annual developmental budget on the promotion of education so that no one is left illiterate. In fact, education is a matter of life and death for Pakistan.

The PEF has therefore prioritized the education of children from the impecunious strata. We are arranging equal opportunities of learning for such children who cannot afford their basic right due to poverty or lack of resources. PEF is providing free school education to as much as 1.66 million needy children in 36 districts through a network of four thousand partner schools. PEF is the largest program of free education in the province, he told. We have also launched pilot projects for physically handicapped children, child-labourers and housemaids so that they could change their fate through education, he said. Evening voucher-based program of free education for child-labourers and housemaids is especially praiseworthy. The function was also addressed by educationists and school education department officials who talked about teachers training programs. Later, Chairman PEF distributed certificates among the participant.
