SWD disburses Rs 8.35 crore among 22,348 deserving persons

Financial assistance to tune of Rs 8.35 crore has been provided to 22,348 beneficiaries by the Social Welfare Department (SWD) under various schemes in Bandipora district during last fiscal.
“Of this, Rs 3.12 crore were disbursed under Old Age Pension, Rs 1.94 crore under Physically Challenged Scheme, Rs 1.32 crore under Widow Pension Scheme, Rs 3 lakh under NFBS, Rs 1.52 lakh under CSSS, Rs 22.77 lakh under RMV Scheme, Rs 27.33 lakh under Scholarship Scheme while as rest of the amount was disbursed under other schemes of the department,” an official statement said. 

This was stated during a review meeting of the concerned officers held under the chairmanship of Director Social Welfare Department Hasmat Ali Yatoo at Bandipora today. 

District Development Commissioner Bandipora Shah Faisal, District Social Welfare Officer Bandipora Shabir Ahmad Wani besides Tehsil Level Officers also attended the meeting.

The meeting was informed that 35 children are presently being provided basic facilities and education in Bal Ashram Bandipora while as 562 persons has been covered under Aam Aadmi Beema Yojana in the district.


Director on the occasion enjoined upon the officers to work with zeal and zest and perform their duty with full spirit. 

He said the mindset of the staff needs to be changed so that the benefit of the schemes goes directly to the deserving. He also stressed on organizing seminars and awareness camps. He said that the poor, disabled and widows are the part of our society so we should never ignore them.
District Development Commission on the occasion stressed for covering those people under the schemes who are yet to be covered and for this purpose a general survey should be made in the district in a proper way.
