Applications invited for fellowship programme : Haryana



The Haryana State Council for Science and Technology (HSCST) has invited applications for the HSCST Fellowship Programme 2015.

There are several opportunities for college students and graduates who wish to make a difference and work at the grass-roots level through fellowships and training programmes. 


Under the scheme, the HSCST would award fellowships for training in methods of research under the expert guidance of faculty members and scientists working in university departments, national laboratories and institutes in Haryana in various fields of science and technology and medical sciences.

The last date for accepting applications would be November 9.


A spokesperson of the Haryana Department of Science and Technology said in order to attract talented and meritorious students, the Haryana government was offering research fellowships in science subjects such as life sciences, physical sciences, chemical sciences, mathematical sciences and planetary sciences.


The fellowships would involve full-time research work for a PhD degree in the relevant subject areas from any institute or university in Haryana. These fellowships are tenable in universities, post-graduate colleges, government research establishments, research and development establishments of recognised public or private sector, industrial firms and other recognised institutions in Haryana.


Candidates would be selected on the basis of their performance in the National Eligibility Test ( NET), conducted by CSIR ( Council of Scientific & Industrial Research). Candidates who have opted for CSIR- JRF (Junior Research Fellow) and have at least qualified CSIR - LS (Life Sciences) NET would be selected on the basis of their performance in NET for carrying out their PhD research.


To be eligible for selection under the programme, the candidate must hold an MSc or equivalent degree in the specified subjects with a minimum of 55 % marks. Candidates should also have opted for CSIR JRF (NET) and qualify the eligibility test for lectureship in the UGC test for JRF and LS (NET) held on June 22, 2014. Candidates availing fellowship or financial assistance from any other source would not be eligible.

The upper age limit for JRF shall be 28 years as on January 1 last year, which is relaxed up to five years in the case of women candidates or those belonging to the categories of schedule castes and schedule tribes, physically handicapped and OBC.
