'Help Desk' inaugurated at Vadodara rail station for commuters

A 'Help Desk', which will provide necessary information to commuters, was today inaugurated by BJP MP Ranjanaben Patel at the railway station here.

The desk, set up by Vadodara Division of the Western Railway, will be manned by prominent citizens, students and city-based NGO's on a voluntary basis and through it necessary information will be provided to the commuters.

Railway officials claim that this is the first kind of a help desk started in the country.

"This is perhaps the only smart city model, where in senior citizens, NGOs and students have come forward to help fellow travellers. Those who know the city, show the city - a true Public Private Partnership model," Bhat said.

"Facilities available at the station like free drinking water, escalators, waiting rooms, ramp for physically challenged, would now be shown by senior citizens to the commuters," said Ashutosh Gangal, Divisional Railway Manager, Vadodara Division.

"Information regarding prominent places of tourist attraction will be given at this desk with help of pictures," he added.

City Mayor Bharat Danger and other senior officials were present on the occasion.
