A 29-year-old mentally and physically challenged woman was raped by her neighbour when she was alone at her residence in an area under Gittikhadan police station jurisdiction. The matter came to light when she was diagnosed seven months pregnant at Sevagram hospital in Wardha district.
The incident rape took place in May last year. The matter came to light recently when the rape survivor was admitted to Sewagram hospital due to some health complications. Hospital authorities informed Sewagram police station where an offence was registered.
The case was later referred to Gittikhadan police station for further probe. The accused, identified as Krishna, has been booked.
