Dr. Patil, who is also in charge of the district, was responding to a grievance raised by one Andanappa Desai during the ‘Janaspandana’ programme. He said neither the Kalaburagi Urban Development Authority nor the Mahanagara Palike would take up the responsibility of providing basic amenities to private layouts.
Dr. Patil received 95 grievances related to lack of basic amenities such as underground drainage, drinking water and sanitation facilities. Some other grievances pertained to pension settlement and encroachment of government land.

Vijayalakshmi N. Veershetty, a physically challenged woman from Shahbad town in Chittapur taluk, alleged that despite filing several applications, she had not been given the specially designed three-wheeler scooter provided to the disabled. She said she had also not received the gas stoves provided to the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes under the Special Component Plan and the tribal sub-plan though her name was included in the list.
Another petitioner, Prakash Benakanahalli, alleged that about 500 acres of government land has been encroached in the city.

Dr. Patil promised to order an inquiry into this and directed officials of the departments concerned to conduct a spot inspection to address the public’s grievances.

A group of employees demanded a Joint Director for the Technical Education Department in Kalaburagi.

Other demands included establishment of a government engineering college in Jewargi taluk and disbursal pending salaries to pourakarmikas.

Deputy Commissioner Ujjwalkumar Ghosh, Kalaburagi Mahanagara Palike Commissioner P. Sunilkumar, Superintendent of Police N. Shashikumar and others were present.
